Lactase (beta-galactosidase) is a digestive enzyme that breaks down the lactose of milk and milk products into harmless simple sugars, glucose and galactose. People who lack this enzyme are unable to use lactose completely, which can lead to very unpleasant symptoms. The enzyme lactase improves lactose digestion in individuals who have problems digesting lactose. General 2500 FCC units are required for the digestion of 10-13 grams of lactose. * Lactase is an ideal supplement for those who wish to enjoy whey, casein, caseinate and milk proteins, but suffer from lactose intolerance.
